Cyber Warfare Command
This morning, the ROD Joint Forces Command activated Cyber Warfare Command (CWC) – a joint command focused on cyber warfare. CWC reports directly to the Joint Forces Staff, and it is manned by personnel from all branches of the ROD military. Its mission is to conduct defensive and offensive operations in cyberspace. It defends ROD and DoD networks and cyber infrastructure from attack. It also conducts attacks of its own against foreign networks and cyber organizations. Army

Operation Helios Continues
More ships and aircraft are joining the exercise off the ROD coast, putting new technologies to the test and developing ways to manage the vast amounts of data that unmanned vessels and aircraft generate. This morning the exercise entered a new phase that focuses on UAVs and USVs operating collaboratively, sharing intelligence and targeting data, with human oversight.

Operation Helios
This morning the ROD Navy kicked off Operation Helios in the waters surrounding the Home Island. The objective of this operation is to test and refine the use of unmanned systems and develop tools and techniques to manage them. Several vessels and manned aircraft are taking part in the exercise, but the focus is on drones. Of particular interest is the fleet of Sea Hunter unmanned surface vessels that will be out and about. These platforms are capable of carrying weapons, b

Battleships!
This morning a pair of battleships slipped out of port with little fanfare. The Iowa class battleship Cerberus (B-12) and the Montana class battleship Chupacabra (BB-15) were last seen heading south-west. When asked about the ships, Navy officials stated that the ships were on a routine training mission under the command of a new headquarters called Surface Action Group 1.

New Ships?
Observers in the ROD spotted a trio of warships off the east coast of the Home Island yesterday afternoon. The ships were flying the ROD ensign. The Navy has not yet commented on the ships.

CVBG-13 Deploys
Carrier Battle Group 13 put to sea this morning for a scheduled 5-month deployment to the Atlantic and Mediterranean areas of operation. And this deployment is interesting because a battleship is attached to the battlegroup, an arrangement that has not been seen in peace time for many years. Carrier Battle Group 13 consists of the JFK class aircraft carrier Myrmidon (CV-13), the Ticonderoga class cruiser Shepherd (CG-43), three Arleigh Burke class destroyers from DESRON 31:

Operation Okapi
Operation Okapi is the name given to the ROD’s mission in the DRC to combat the Ebola outbreak. The concept of the operation is to establish an LSA on the coast where supplies and personnel can be staged, and then establish a FOB close to the affected area, but outside of contamination and conflict zones. PHASE I is currently underway. 1st SHAM has ferried the security company, construction survey team, and HQ element by helicopter to the port of Banana on DRC’s west coast.

The Air Force pages are done...sort of. The organization is all there, and there are a few pictures, but I still need to take some more photos to add to the pages to fill them out a little bit.

1st SHAM Diverting to DRC
The ROD is redirecting 1st SHAM from South America (currently in Venezuela) to west Africa (specifically the Democratic Republic of Congo) to assist with the Ebola outbreak there. SHAM personnel will initially not be treating Ebola patients directly due to the lack of protective equipment. Rather they will establish a forward operating base where medical supplies can be staged and that can accommodate ROD supply aircraft. The affected area is in the north-east of the DRC and

ROD Is Online!
Welcome to the new ROD website! It's still just bare bones, but give me some time and I will add more content. I have never used Wix to build a site before, but so far it seems easy enough. I am definitely not a super tech savvy guy! The ROD has been dormant for a little while, so I don't have naval formations out on patrol or any troops deployed. I am starting from scratch with the patrol schedule, so gradually the current ops map will have more stuff on it.
